Language requirements:

  1. English Language Requirement
  • Applicant shall show evidence of proficiency in English language based on the following criteria:

* Endorsed by University Senate Meeting (Edition-66 No. 6/2011)

  • Graduated in the field of Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL), English Language Studies (ELS) and equivalent from a university recognised by the Senate, or
  • A native speaker of English.
  • Applicants who do not meet one of the above requirements and was offered conditional intake are required to fulfil anyone the criteria above within 12 months (Master’s Student)
  1. Arabic language requirement:

A) Student shall show evidence of proficiency in the Arabic language, based on the following criteria:

  • Graduated from institutions that use Arabic as the main medium of instructions; or
  • Graduated in the field of Arabic Language and equivalent from a university recognised by the University; or
  • Native speaker of Arabic or
  • Passed the University Arabic Proficiency Test (UAPT) conducted by the University; or
  • Passed the Arabic Course(s) conducted by the University

Admission requirements:

1. Admission to Master’s Degree by Research

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree with honours with a minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.00 or equivalent from the University or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate; or
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with honours AND relevant professional work experience; or
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50/4.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75/4.00, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
  • In case the CGPA does not meet the requirement of 2.50/4.00, the selection will subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in relevant field.
  • The number of credit hours for the relevant bachelor’s degree and advanced diploma shall be as follows:
    • Bachelor’s degree ≥ 120 credit hours
    • Advanced diploma ≥ 90 credit hours

Note: 1-year work experience is equivalent to 0.05 CGPA (To be added to the applicant CGPA).

  1. Admission to PhD degree
  • A relevant Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.00 or equivalent from the University; or
  • Other relevant qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree AND with relevant professional experience recognised by the Senate;
  • Incumbent Master’s degree Student who has fulfilled the requirement of the provisions for conversion and is approved by the JKPSU and the consent of the Senate to convert his/her study to Ph.D. degree.
